Assistant Coach – Part-Time Occasional

2019 Summer Skating Programs

​

Landonedge Skating strives to increase the confidence of skating athletes, coaches, and volunteers in sport organizations towards performing their ultimate goals.

 

Landonedge Skating is seeking the skills and talents of skating coaches to assist part-time with implementing Power Skating, Speed Skating, and/or Dryland programs during the summer of 2019. Applicants will be evaluated to the extent of meeting the qualifications for a position.  

 

An Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches to deliver Power Skating and/or Speed Skating sessions on and off ice. The position is part-time occasional between June 5 and August 14, 2019. Several opportunities are available, which any individual may fill more than one, for the following programs, dates, and times:

  • Power Skating Program – 3 Positions – Wednesdays June 5 – August 14, 2019 from 5:00pm-7:30pm.

  • Speed Skating Program – 2 Positions – Wednesdays June 5 – August 14, 2019 from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to attend 100% of the sessions of the programs you have chosen to assist.

  • A minimum of trained status within the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

  • Experience leading and coaching skating programs on and off ice.

  • Successful completion of the NCCP Making Ethical Decisions evaluation.

  • Current first aide certificate.

  • A team player that is dependable, reliable, and organized.

  • Ability to obtain a clean child abuse registry check and criminal record check.

 

Description:

  • Implement practice plans for Power Skating and/or Speed Skating on and off ice as assigned by the Head Coach and make adaptations to the plan to suit the group or individuals as required.

  • Evaluate the skill level of individuals to place them in appropriate groups.

  • Ensure a fun, safe, and educational environment for all individuals involved.

  • Aid in the enacting of an emergency action plan or provide first aide when necessary.

  • Represent Landonedge Skating in a positive manner when interacting with participants and their parents/guardians.

  • Maintain appropriate communication with the Head Coach to facilitate appropriate program implementation.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

 

Compensation:

  • $12.50 - $17.50 per hour commensurate on level of coaching certification and experience.
