Landonedge Speed Skating

Skating with power + efficiency requires the proper combination of body positioning, blade edges, and stride direction to build and maintain speed on straights and through turns.

 

Landonedge Skating is founded on Todd Landon's 20+ years experience as a certified + chartered high performance speed skating coach.

 

Gain confidence to win more races with Landonedge Skating's expert instruction + feedback. 

Summer Programs Curricula:

  • Starting – use body positioning, blade pressure, and stride direction to accelerate.

  • Straights – use body position, blade pressure, and stride direction to effectively push off the skate to build and maintain straight away .

  • Turns – use body position, blade pressure, and stride direction to effectively  push off the inside and outside skate to build and maintain speed through cross-overs.

  • Technical Evaluation - an introductory video assessment of technical competency and development.

 

 

Programs limited to 24 skaters

1:8 coach to skater ratio

Certified and/or trained skating coaches

Summer Programs

  • The program will be run at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth on the International sized ice pad, Rink D, with protective board pads.

  • Development Program

    • Skaters aged 11+ as of July 1, 2023. Skaters should have 2 years of speed skating experience.​

    • Four 1.5-hour ice sessions 

    • Tuesdays September 5-26

    • 6:00pm-6:15pm - Warm-up

    • 6:30pm-8:00pm - Ice

    • $160.00

  • Advancing Program

    • Skaters aged 13+ as of July 1, 2023 and sub 60sec 500m or sub 50sec 400m

    • Four 1.5-hour ice sessions

    • Tuesdays September 5-26

    • 6:00pm-6:15pm - Warm-up

    • 6:30pm-8:00pm - Ice
